Unpack everything onto a flat surface and sort the hardware into groups before touching a single panel. Grill manufacturers ship several bolt lengths that look identical at a glance, and using a long one in a short hole will punch through an enamel panel.

Watch for thirty seconds. Growing bubbles mean gas is escaping. Close the tank valve, tighten the fitting a little, and repeat the test. If bubbles keep forming after two attempts, stop and replace the hose and regulator as an assembly rather than chasing the leak.
